He holds M.Sc (1992) in Geology and Ph.D. (2004) in Earthquake Geology from Cochin University of Science & Technology. His field of specialization is characterization of active tectonic structures and involved in some path-breaking findings in earthquake geology. He is presently leading a team of scientists to carry out active fault and seismotectonic evaluation for in different parts of India. He has more than 50 papers to his credit came out in National and International Publications. He is also a recognized guide for PhD and MS by research at VIT University.
Dr. G D Raju has over 20 years of experience in the Mining and Tunneling industry offering consultancy and conducting research and has international exposure. His core areas of interest include Mine design and Ground control, Instrumentation, Numerical modeling, Design of dynamic rock supports, Slope stability and Experimental Rock Mechanics. He has rich experience in field geotechnical investigations. Dr. Raju obtained his PhD from McGill University, CANADA in Mining Engineering and Masters from UVCE, Bangalore University in Geotechnical Engineering.
He holds M.Sc (2006) in Geology from H.N.B. Garhwal University. He has more than 3 years of experience in geotechnical studies, data acquisition, data processing, geological interpretation of magneto telluric and various magnetometers data carried out at Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun. He joined NIRM in 2008. He has developed the expertise in the field of active fault studies, paleo seismology and engineering geological studies. He has received various appreciation letters from various national and international agencies for his work done in the field of active fault studies and engineering geological studies. Presently pursuing Ph.D from VIT, University, Vellore. He has authored over 18 papers, and published in journals and conference proceedings (National & International)
She holds M.Sc (2006) in Geology, M.Phil (2007) in Geology and P.hD (2015) in Geology from University of Madras. Dr. Divyalakshmi K. S was Junior Research fellow in University of Madras. She completed her PhD in Tsunami Threat Assessment by Numerical Modelling and GIS. After joining NIRM in 2008 she concentrated in application of Remote Sensing & GIS for the geological investigations mainly active fault studies for critical civil structures. She is having 11 papers/abstracts in her credit. She presented papers in international (China) and national conferences.
Dr. S Kumar Reddy obtained his M Tech from Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and Doctorate in Mining Engineering from NITK, Surathkal. He joined National Institute of Rock Mechanics as Scientist-1 in Mine Design Department in the year 2008 and currently working as Scientist -2 in Slope Stability Cell. Prior to joining NIRM, he was working as Jr. Manager in JSWML (Jindal group mines). His field of specialization is Numerical modeling, Design of method of working and supporting in mines/quarries, Geotechnical studies and slope design in opencast mines, and Rock mechanics instrumentation & strata monitoring. He has authored over 17 technical papers, and 17 research and industry sponsored projects as principal and co-investigator. He is a member of the Institution of Engineers, ISRM and MEAI.
Mr. Udaykumar is presently working in Rock Fracture mechanics Laboratory with rich experience of about 26 years in determining various Physico-mechanical properties on Rock. Also worked in Material testing Laboratory, for about 9 years in carrying out various destructive/nondestructive test on wire rope samples and mining machinery components.
Mr. Joseph, a graduate from Bangalore University, and Worked for 10 years in the erstwhile BGML R&D unit in the field of strata monitoring and Rock burst predictions. After joining NIRM, worked for the following areas: 1. Geotechnical Engineering Department: Assisted HOD in the establishing Geotechnical Engineering Department the at NIRM in 1990, and worked for the department for about 15 years conducting In-situ stress measurement using hydrofrac method, In-situ deformability by plate load testing, In-situ direct shear test and In-situ permeability / Lugeon test Conducted tests for several Tunneling projects, Hydroelectric projects, Dam foundation projects, Mining projects, railway tunneling projects, crude oil underground storage Schemes 2. The Engineering Geophysics Department: Worked for the department for about 5 years with the following Geophysical facilities: • Ground Pentrating Radar (GPR) • Refraction Seismographs • Borehole geophysical survey (GPR and Seismic) •Multichannel Resisitivity Equipment for imaging, profiling and sounding 3. Centre for Testing services: At present working for the department in the field of Rock Fracture mechanics for the past 6 years.
Mr. Royston A Victor holds diploma in mining engineering and holds NDT Level-II certification. Currently he carries out NDT testing on vital Mine machinery components and wire ropes, Non Destructive Evaluation of HEMM and steel structures.
