Dr. D. S. Subrahmanyam
Scientist-V & Head of Department
Dr. DS Subrahmanyam obtained his Post –graduate degree in Geology from Andhra University, and Ph. D degree from Bangalore University. He worked for 7 years in Granite and Cement industries in various capacities prior to joining in NIRM in 1997. Presently he is Head of the department for Geotechnical Engineering Division. He is associated mainly with the geological and geotechnical studies of many important engineering projects in the Himalayan region and Presently responsible for planning, programming, implementation and monitoring of engineering geological/geotechnical investigations of hydropower projects, communication projects, underground storage plants, underground mines and irrigation projects in India and abroad. He established an innovative technique for conducting stress measurements in fractured and porous rocks for which he is going to get the Patent rights from Controller General, Patents & Designs (India). He is having the credit of preparing the Stress Map of India for contribution to World Stress Map. He was Advisor and Interview Board Member for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and also Officer in-charge for KR Puram unit of NIRM for a short period during 2016. He is holding the additional assignment of Central Public Information Officer (CPIO) of NIRM. He has authored more than 50 papers to his credit, published in National and International journals and proceedings and nearly 95 Technical reports and 5 Research projects submitted for various assignments. He is also the Fellow and life member for various National and International societies and associations. He is Editor for 7 International journals and also Reviewer for various National and International Magazines. He visited Finland, Sweden, Bhutan and Nepal in connection with the Project related works and seminars.
Mr. G Shyam
Scientist-III
Mr. Shyam pursued his B.E. in Civil Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University in the year 2006. He joined NIRM in the year 2008. Till date he is associated with Geotechnical Engineering Department.
Mr. Vamshidhar Kusumba
Scientist-III
Mr. Vamshidhar Kusumba obtained his graduate degree in Mining Engineering from University College of Engineering (KU), Kothagudem (2007), and Post –graduate degree in Mining Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (2010). Joined in NIRM as Scientist I in October 2008 and he worked for five years in Rock Blasting and Excavation Engineering Department. He worked for one year in Mine Design Department. Presently he is Scientist II in Geotechnical Engineering Department and associated mainly with the geotechnical studies of many important engineering projects in the Himalayan region.
Mr. S Vikram
Scientist-II
Mr. Vikram S holds a Master degree (M.Tech) in Geomatics from Indian School of Mines Dhanbad (2013) and Graduate degree (B.E.) in Mining Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University Belgaum (2008). Joined NIRM as Scientist in January 2015. Prior to joining this institute, he was with Hindustan Zinc Ltd, Udaipur, Rajasthan and Goa Engineering College, Ponda, Goa. Presently he is associated mainly with the geotechnical studies of engineering projects in the Himalayan region and responsible for planning, implementation and monitoring of geotechnical investigations of hydropower projects, underground storage plants, underground mines and irrigation projects in India and abroad. He has authored 6 papers to his credit, published in National journals and proceedings and 5 Technical reports
Mr. K.N. Shashidara
Technician-I
Mr. K.N. Shashidara obtained his National Trade Certificate in Fitter from Department of Employment and Training, Government of Karnataka. He worked for 3 years in Ace Designers Ltd and Ace Micromatic Machine Tools Pvt Ltd in various capacities prior to joining in NIRM in December, 2015. Presently he is Technician for Geotechnical Engineering Division
